Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is Fingal Chamber?
Fingal Chamber is the independent, member-led business representative organisation for north Dublin. We connect members to each other and to opportunity, advocate for Fingal business in local and national decision-making, and deliver practical support through events, training and business services.
We are the only Chambers Ireland accredited Chamber in the region.
Which areas do you cover?
The whole county, from Balbriggan in the north to Santry in the south, and from Howth in the east to Castleknock in the west.
How long has the Chamber been going?
Since 1994, when it was founded as Swords and District Chamber of Commerce. D15 Chamber amalgamated in 2011 and North Dublin Chamber in 2024, bringing the region's chambers together as one accredited body. You can read the full story on the About page.
Who runs the Chamber?
A voluntary Board of eight directors, elected by the membership, holds the strategy and oversees delivery. The Business Council steers policy priorities. Day-to-day work is delivered by a full-time team led by the Chief Executive.
Fingal Chamber is an independent not-for-profit, funded by member subscriptions and service-related revenue.
Is Fingal Chamber only for large businesses?
No. Members range from sole traders and start-ups to global multinationals. What you get from membership is scaled to fit, so a two-person business is not paying for a service built for a company of two thousand.
How much does membership cost?
Fees depend on the size of your business and the tier you choose. See Plans and Pricing for the current rates. There is no VAT on membership fees.
What do I actually get?
Representation where decisions are made, curated networking, subsidised training through Fingal Chamber Skillnet, promotional opportunities, discounted export documentation, HR and compliance guidance and member discounts. The Benefits of Membership page sets out the detail.
How do I join?
Fill in the form on the Become a Member page and our team will be in touch. If you would rather talk it through first, call +353 1 890 0977 and we will answer your questions before you commit to anything.
Is membership held by the company or by an individual?
By the company. One person acts as the primary member and can add or remove colleagues, so several people from the same business can hold their own accounts and attend events.
How long does membership run?
Twelve months from the month you join, renewing in the same month each year.
How do I pay?
Online, or by electronic funds transfer to the bank details at the bottom of your invoice.
How do I renew?
We will email you before your renewal month with an invoice and a link to pay. Once payment clears you will get an activation email to confirm your member profile for the year ahead.
If your details have changed, update them in the Members' Area before you renew so the directory stays accurate. For anything else about renewals, email info@fingalchamber.ie.
Do smaller businesses get the same benefits as larger ones?
The core of membership is the same whatever your size: representation, networking, training, promotion and business services. What differs by tier is the depth of some of those - the number of places at events, the level of promotional support and access to certain services.
The Plans and Pricing page sets out what each tier includes side by side, so you can see exactly where the differences fall.
Can I try an event before joining?
Yes. Non-members can attend one of the public events before joining or smaller businesses can sign up for the 60 day free trial Bronze membership to sample the members-only events and other features. Email events@fingalchamber.ie to arrange it.
How do I keep up with what is happening?
Check the Events and News pages, and subscribe to our newsletters.
Only a limited selection of newsletters is open to the public. Members get the full range of mailing lists, which carry curated industry news, economic updates, policy changes, stakeholder notices, event invitations, training opportunities and consultation deadlines.
How do I access the members' area?
Your membership includes an account on Glue Up, our member platform, usable in a browser or through the free My Glue app. The Members' Area guide walks through setting it up.
I cannot log in. What do I do?
Most login problems come down to using a different email address than the one your membership is registered to, or an account that has not been activated yet. Glue Up's login troubleshooting guide covers the common causes.
If that does not sort it, email comms@fingalchamber.ie and we will get you back in.
Is there training on how to use the platform?
Yes. The Members' Area guide includes video walkthroughs covering setup, managing your membership, messaging and the mobile app. If you would rather someone talked you through it, email comms@fingalchamber.ie.
How do I contact the right person?
The Team page lists who handles what, with direct email addresses. If you are not sure, email info@fingalchamber.ie or call +353 1 890 0977.
How do I promote my business news through the Chamber?
Submit it through the right section of this website and our team will promote it across Chamber channels:
- News for appointments, new services, awards and business anniversaries
- Community Events for events you are running
- Member Discounts for offers to other members
- Jobs for vacancies
You can also contribute to the blog if you have expertise to share at greater length.
What are the Fingal Business Awards?
The Fingal Business Awards are the largest gathering of Fingal business in the calendar and have run since 2002. For this year's categories, entry deadlines, ticket details and running order, see the Fingal Business Awards page, which is updated for each cycle.
Can I sponsor a Chamber event or programme?
Yes. Sponsorship puts your brand in front of a defined regional business audience across events, publications and Chamber channels. See Sponsorship for the packages available, or email info@fingalchamber.ie to talk through what would suit your objectives.
How does the Chamber advocate for business?
We hold seats on all four Fingal County Council Strategic Policy Committees and the Local Community Development Committee, and we are a registered lobbyist under the Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015. Through Chambers Ireland, member evidence reaches national and European level.
See Representation, Government Engagement and Policy Submissions for what that looks like in practice.
How do I make sure my concerns are heard?
Respond to the annual Business Environment and Economic Outlook Survey. It is the evidence base behind our policy priorities, and it is the most direct way for a member to shape what we argue for.
If something urgent is affecting your business, email info@fingalchamber.ie rather than waiting for the survey to open.
Who can take part in Skillnet subsidised training?
Any private or semi-state business in the Fingal region that wants to upskill its employees and network with other companies in the region. See Fingal Chamber Skillnet and upcoming courses.
For public service training see OurPublicService.ie, and for charities see TheWheel.ie.
Where are your offices and when are you open?
Building Two, Dublin Airport Central, beside Terminal 2. We are open Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm, closing between 1pm and 2pm, and Friday from 9am to 4pm, or 9am to 1pm during June, July and August.
The office is appointment only, so arrange your visit first. Full directions are on the Visit Us page.
Can I give feedback?
Yes, and we would rather hear it than not. Email info@fingalchamber.ie or use the form on the Contact page.
