The death has occurred of John Stanley

We are sad to report that the death has occurred of John Stanley, principal contributor to the Fingal Network Magazine publication. John died unexpectedly in France following an accident while engaging in his pastime of kayaking on Monday June 10th.

Born in Birmingham in 1952, he had a lifetime career in journalism, first employed in the Birmingham Sunday Mercury as a reporter, and for BBC Radio Birmingham as a reporter, before moving to Ireland in 1972 as a sub-editor in the Business & Finance Department of The Irish Times. He moved to the Irish Press, where he became a well-known reporter on the business pages of that publication, then one of the four principal Irish daily newspapers publishing financial pages.

Fingal Chamber Chief Executive, Anthony Cooney said:

"We remember John fondly as a gentleman with a kind, witty, and intelligent nature. We also recall his dedication to great writing and his friendly demeanour. We would like to express our heartfelt sympathy to Olive and family during this difficult time. May John rest in peace."
