Fingal Business Awards - Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to entries to the Fingal Business Awards. By submitting an entry, you agree to be bound by them. Please read them in full before you apply.

Last updated: 1 September 2026

Eligibility

  • The Awards are open to all businesses and organisations operating in Fingal.
  • You may nominate your own business or be nominated by someone else.
  • If you nominate another business, Fingal Chamber will contact them to confirm they wish to proceed. An entry is withdrawn if the nominee does not confirm.
  • A category sponsor may not enter the category it sponsors.

Entering the Awards

  • You may enter up to four award categories, with one entry per category.
  • All entries must be submitted through the official online Awards platform, with every section of the form completed.
  • The platform will not accept answers that exceed the stated word counts. You may upload supporting documents and additional pages.
  • The judges may move an entry to a different category if they consider it a better fit. You will be told if this happens.
  • Entries must be submitted by the published deadline. Late entries will not be accepted.

How entries are assessed

Talent, Business Excellence and Sustainable Business Impact categories

Judges assess written submissions and shortlist finalists. Independent judging panels then evaluate the shortlisted entries. Finalists receive access to feedback and results.

Customer Experience categories

Judges assess written submissions and shortlist finalists. Mystery guest researchers then evaluate the finalists and provide detailed results. Mystery guest visits take place during October and November. A business that is closed, operating reduced hours or otherwise unavailable to researchers during this window may not be fully evaluated, and this may affect its result.

Category-specific requirements

  • Business Person of the Year: nominees must have held their current role for at least two years.
  • Young Business Person of the Year: entrants must be aged 35 or under at the entry deadline.
  • Business of the Year (Large): more than two units, or more than 50 employees, or annual turnover above €10 million.
  • Business of the Year (SME): 50 or fewer employees and annual turnover of €10 million or less.
  • Business of the Year (Startup): the business must have been trading for three years or less at the entry deadline.
  • Hotel category: a researcher will complete a one-night stay as part of the assessment. The entrant must cover or waive the cost of this stay by providing a PO number for reimbursement, a voucher code or a voucher document, provided with the entry.

If you are shortlisted

  • Once shortlisted, finalists are expected to remain in the competition. A finalist who withdraws forfeits their place, and Fingal Chamber may continue to reference their shortlisting in Awards communications.
  • At least one representative of the finalist must attend the Gala Awards Presentation Evening to be eligible to receive an Award. Tickets are purchased through Fingal Chamber and are not complimentary.

General conditions

  • Fingal Chamber and its media partners may use information from your entry (excluding commercially sensitive material) and your contact details for promotional purposes relating to the Fingal Business Awards. See our privacy policy for how we handle your data.
  • Scheduled dates may change.
  • You are responsible for telling Fingal Chamber about any changes to your contact details during the process.
  • Any entry found to contain false or misleading information may be disqualified. The judges may audit any information provided.
  • Fingal Chamber may withdraw an award, before or after it is presented, if the winner is found to have breached these terms, provided false or misleading information, or acted in a way that brings the Awards or Fingal Chamber into disrepute.
  • The judges' decision is final.
