The results are in. Fingal Chamber, in collaboration with South Dublin, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and County Kildare Chambers, has published the findings of the Business Environment & Economic Outlook Survey 2026 - the most comprehensive cross-regional snapshot of business sentiment in the Greater Dublin Region to date.
245 businesses took part, spanning sole traders to large employers across every major sector. Their responses paint a clear picture of what's working, what's holding growth back, and what businesses need from Government.
What the survey found
The cost of doing business remains the dominant concern - cited by more than half of respondents as the single action Government could take to make the biggest difference. Recruitment and retention continues to strain businesses of all sizes, with more than half finding it moderately or very difficult to attract and keep staff. Housing, transport and planning are the infrastructure gaps most limiting growth in businesses' current locations.
Despite the pressures, ambition is evident. More than a third of businesses plan to increase staff numbers over the next twelve months, and 39% intend to expand investment.
How the findings are being used
The survey results feed directly into joint advocacy by the four chambers, informing policy submissions, media engagement and direct engagement with local authorities and Government departments on housing supply, infrastructure investment and the cost of doing business.
