The Chambers of Commerce email phishing scam

Fingal Chamber is advising members about an email phishing scam associating itself with the Chamber.

The Chamber team have received reports of members being contacted by unaffiliated third parties by email offering Chamber membership information for purchase.

Fingal Chamber Chief Executive, Anthony Cooney said:

'I want to assure you we do not sell Chamber member's info. Having explored the data on offer, we can state that it is inconsistent with data ever held by the Chamber and also appears to be wildly inaccurate. If you would like to contact fellow members, we direct you to log in to your member account to view the member directory for the correct company contact details and to connect using the Community Hub and 1-on-1 Direct Chat functions.'

Fingal Chamber’s software providers Growthzone/Chambermaster said:

'The practice of selling falsified or stolen mailing lists is an increasingly common spam/scam email where the scammer will market unofficial and often fake membership and attendee lists. After review, we did not find anything egregious concerning Fingal Chamber’s data or website. These emails are not associated with a security breach to the ChamberMaster database.'

Chambers of Commerce in different jurisdictions have reported the same issue with spam emails originating from a various dubious email addresses including Victor Kamaury (businessbox-s.com), Thalia Louise (e1businessdatas.live), Nova Moore (digihubleadpro.services), Sally Hood (Leadcart.info), Regina (digitalhubelead.live) and Simi Louise (leads-ebooks.info).

Businesses are urged not to provide details to these companies as these emails do not come from an affiliate, partner, or programs associated with the Chamber.

Those with questions are asked to contact Fingal Chamber at news@fingalchamber.ie or 01-8900977.
