MetroLink Approval Backed by Chambers Ireland
Chambers Ireland has said that it strongly supports today’s approval by An Coimisiún Pleanála of the Dublin MetroLink project, saying it will be a catalyst for housing, infrastructure and growth.
Ian Talbot, Chief Executive of Chambers Ireland, said: “MetroLink will be transformative for the entire country. It will deliver fast, reliable, and high-capacity public transport and represents the vision required to not just link communities but also enable the kind of growth that strengthens our economy.”
Commenting on the wider impact, Mr Talbot added: “It will also enhance our international reputation by bringing our capital in line with other European cities that already benefit from modern, high-capacity metro systems. By reducing congestion and cutting travel times there will be substantial benefits for inward investment and tourism as well as supporting housing delivery.”
He continued: “This also provides a great opportunity for Ireland to demonstrate that it can deliver critical infrastructure on a timely and affordable basis. Filling the infrastructure gap that exists around the country in public transport, waste, water, grid and other areas is essential to secure our economic and social wellbeing into the future and Metrolink has an opportunity to be a flag-bearer for success.
It is crucial that momentum is maintained to bring this project to completion and we look forward to swift progress and delivery.”
